Welcome to Clave de Sol Suzuki Studio!
Located in the beautiful Northwest Hills of Austin, Clave de Sol Suzuki Studio is the home of a group of Suzuki families who have a deep commitment to music education and practice music every day. We perform regularly throughout year, giving several group concerts in the Fall and Spring, and a solo recital in May. We agree that in order to practice music daily a child's extra curricular activities should be limited to two with violin related activities counting as one. In addition to our love for music we share common interests such as a love for languages, travel, origami making and knitting, nature, and basically building a better world for our children. We all like good food and company and so when we get together after concerts we have lots to talk about. Led by violinist Cecilia Calvelo-Hopkins, who has 20 years of violin and music teaching experience, we make this a devoted Suzuki family!
Some of Dr. Suzuki's famous quotes:
“The fate of a child is in the hands of his parents”
"When love is deep, much can be accomplished"
"Children learn to smile from their parents"
"Teaching music is not my main purpose. I want to make good citizens. If children hear fine music from the day of their birth and learn to play it, they develop sensitivity, discipline and endurance. They get a beautiful heart."
"If you motivate him, he will try to improve on his own initiative. I think it suffices to guide him at that point so that he won't do incorrect things... I would be very happy if parents refrain from wanting to teach but try simply to help."
